Trump endorses Senator Tom Cotton’s re-election bid
In a Truth Social post, Trump endorsed Cotton’s re-election bid, saying he
“is truly an American patriot.”
Cotton announced his plans for re-election to the U.S. Senate in February, stating that it has been “an honor to serve Arkansans.”
Cotton also said in February that he’s launching his campaign with the support of “every Arkansas statewide official, the entire Arkansas congressional delegation, and 108 out of 110 of Arkansas’s Republican State Legislators.”
In Trump’s Truth Social post made on Wednesday, Trump said Cotton “loves the U.S.A.” and is an “American patriot.”
“A former U.S. Army Ranger, Tom bravely served our nation in combat, and brings the same fighting spirit to the U.S. Senate,” said Trump. “He is working tirelessly to strengthen our military, provide the best care for our veterans, help secure our now very secure (record setting) southern border, cut taxes and regulations, ensure American energy dominance, and protect our always under siege Second Amendment.”
Trump added that Cotton will never let America down.
Several others have endorsed Cotton, such as Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Attorney General Tim Griffin.
Cotton, who has served in the Senate since 2015, is the third-ranking Senate Republican, as well as the chairman of the Senate Republican Conference.
Tom serves on multiple committees including the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, the Armed Services Committee, the Joint Economic Committee and the Senate Intelligence Committee.
In the 2020 election, Cotton won against Libertarian candidate Ricky Dale Harrington with 66% of the vote. No Democratic challenger ran against him in that election.
Democratic challenger and farmer Hallie Shoffner has announced she will be hoping to unseat Cotton in 2026.
