Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and Kwara Central senatorial candidate on Wednesday met with the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, National Assembly candidates, following the submission of their INEC nomination forms ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The meeting, which took place at the Ahmadu Bello House in Ilorin, during a courtesy visit by the candidates, was part of efforts to strengthen party cohesion and coordinate strategies for the election.

Those present included the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly and APC governorship candidate, Rt. Hon. Engr. Salihu Yakubu Danladi; the Kwara South senatorial candidate, Prince Olalekan Adewoye; and the Kwara North senatorial candidate, Dr. Mohammed Umar Mahamud.

Also in attendance were the House of Representatives candidates for Offa/Oyun/Ifelodun, Ajakaye Rafiu Oriyomi; Ilorin West/Asa, Muktar Tolani Shagaya; Edu/Moro/Patigi, Mamman Mohammed Tswako; Ilorin South/Ilorin East, Abdulquawiy Damilola AbdulGaniyu; and Kaiama/Baruten, Ahmed Saidu Baba.

Although details of the discussions were not disclosed, political observers say the meeting underscores the APC’s efforts to project unity and coordinate its campaign across the governorship, Senate and House of Representatives contests ahead of the elections.

The gathering comes as political parties across the country intensify consultations and mobilise their candidates and supporters ahead of the polls.
