The authorities have suggested that about 24 people may have died on the ground, and the toll may rise as more body parts are recovered.

One passenger, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, a British national, miraculously survived the crash. Ramesh suffered burns and injuries and is being treated at a hospital.

Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani was among the victims who lost their lives in the crash.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the crash site and met with the families of the victims.
