Nigerian rapper and actor, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has advised young people against rushing into marriage before the age of 30, saying the period before then should be devoted to personal growth and self-discovery.
The 35-year-old artiste gave the advice during an episode of The BTS Reality Podcast, where he argued that many people are yet to attain the emotional, mental and financial maturity needed for marriage in their 20s.
Falz noted that societal pressure often pushes young people into early marriage, urging them to resist such expectations and focus on building themselves first.
According to him, the twenties should be spent learning, gaining life experiences and enjoying personal development rather than hurrying into lifelong commitments.
“Getting married in your 30s is the best. Don’t let anyone pressure you into getting married before 30. By your 30s, you have gained more life experiences,” he said.
“In your 20s, you are still figuring yourself out. Your 20s are for learning, growing and enjoying life. In your 30s, you combine all the knowledge and try to direct your life. So, it is better to wait till your 30s before getting married.”
He encouraged young Nigerians to prioritise self-development and make life decisions based on personal readiness rather than societal expectations.
