The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has commended President Bola Tinubu for approving the creation of four new Army divisions, describing the move as a landmark step toward strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture.

In a statement, the Forum said the simultaneous establishment of four new divisions represents the largest single expansion of the Nigerian Army in modern history and reflects the President’s strong commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the country.

The governors also applauded the President’s approval for the recruitment of 28,000 additional Army personnel and the acquisition of critical military equipment, noting that the measures will significantly enhance the nation’s fight against terrorism, banditry, and other security threats.

According to the NGF, the expanded military capacity is expected to improve the effectiveness of ongoing security operations while reinforcing the Federal Government’s efforts to restore peace and stability in affected communities.

The Forum reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the Tinubu administration on national security and other key development priorities aimed at advancing the country’s progress.

It also urged Nigerians to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible intelligence that can aid efforts to combat crime and ensure the safety of communities nationwide.

The NGF expressed confidence that the latest reforms will further strengthen Nigeria’s security framework and contribute to lasting peace across the country.
